To Olivia and Alyssa:
Nothing has done enough, but here's to this, cheers.

"Most of the luxuries, and many of the so called comforts of life, are not only not indispensable, but positive hindrances to the elevation of mankind."
--- Thoreau, Walden
I've always believed in possibility. I remember seeing a sign in middle school that read, "If you can talk, you can sing. If you can walk, you can dance." It stuck with me---through band practice, school plays, and awkward teenage years. Looking back, I wish there had been a sign about writing. Something like, "If you can think, you can write." Because here I am, writing this book---not because I'm an expert, but because I care deeply.
For over 17 years, I've been passionate about the environment. I've studied climate change, resource depletion, and the slow unraveling of our ecosystems. Along the way, I discovered something vital: without minimalism, we can't fix any of it. Minimalism---living with intention, consuming less, and valuing quality over quantity---isn't just about simplifying life. It's about survival. It's about sustainability. It's about living better with less so that the planet can thrive along with us.
That's why I'm writing this book. Not to be famous or to sell copies. But because I want to tell my daughters---and you---that I tried. I tried to leave behind a world worth inheriting. One not driven by unchecked consumption, but by conscious choice. A world that lives up to the hope children instinctively hold.
This book is here to help you learn how to want less---so you can reclaim your time, your peace, and your clarity. To need less---not as a sacrifice, but as a liberation from clutter, debt, and distraction. To get by with less---because in doing so, you'll find more space to grow into who you were meant to be. More room for nature. More meaning in each moment.
Minimalism isn't just about cleaning out your closet. It's about cleaning up your impact. It's about building a life rooted in intention, sustainability, and joy. If you follow along, I believe you'll discover not just a simpler life---but a richer, more fulfilling one.
