Acknowledgments

I decided to write a book about minimalism and sustainability in early 2022 after my daughter was born. Up until that point I never thought I could partake in such an ambitious undertaking. I still have doubts in myself. I often questioned my writing ability and moreover whether or not a book about minimalism and the environment would actually be able to change our trajectory. But there are times in life when we feel more ambivalent about what we should do in life and during those times of soul searching that is when we need to gather ourselves and press forward.

I would like to thank those who encouraged along during my writing journey. Especially my family and partner.

I want to thank the coffee shops that indulged in my inquests into ceramic cups and mugs. I especially want to thank the coffee shops I left due to only having plastic or paper with plastic film disposable options.

I spent most of my time writing this book at the library and coffee shops around Vancouver, British Colombia and Orange County California. There are some spots in particular that provided me with a natural environment conductive to writing well:

  1. Trees Coffee
  2. VPL Central Library
  3. lovelarte
  4. Frankie's Italian
  5. Moongoat
  6. Insit

I am forever grateful to these businesses.

Lastly I want to thank Frederic Chopin for his masterful works of art. In times I felt stuck or blocked, listening to his masterpieces brought my attention back to the urgency of completing this work. He passed away after only 39 years of life. But in such a short time he completed compositions of some of the most beautiful music the world will ever see.
